Seva Arogya Foundation, in collaboration with Muktangan Prashala, conducted a special training session for community health workers on addressing substance abuse in local communities. The session aimed to equip field workers from all three ongoing projects with practical knowledge and empathetic approaches to work effectively with individuals battling addiction.
The program began with a tribute to Bharat Mata. Dr. Tushar led the proceedings as host.
Ms. Sonali Kale from Muktangan Prashala delivered an insightful session on “Types of Addiction and the Need for Community-Level Intervention.” She spoke about various forms of addiction—alcohol, tobacco, gutkha, drugs, and even the rising dependence on mobile phones—especially among youth and women in urban communities.
She emphasized the importance of sensitivity, empathy, and patience while communicating with affected individuals. She also discussed the crucial role of community workers in de-addiction, effective communication skills, and practical ways to motivate individuals towards recovery.
The session was followed by an interactive Q&A and experience-sharing segment, where participants shared real-life insights from the field.
The training concluded with inspiring closing remarks by Dr. Harshada Padhye, whose words added meaning and motivation to the session. The event ended with a group tea session and informal interactions.
Key attendees included Dr. Harshada Padhye, Padmanabh Unde, and Dr. Tushar, representing the Seva Arogya Foundation, along with the team from Muktangan Prashala.
